Politics and forgiveness

One cute comment I saw on TPUC - he points out that the General Election is an election of the General. And so called Democracy gives you the chance to choose your favourite Dictator. He will of course be dictated to but he will also dictate to his underlings and to us.

There are of course many ways to look at everything. I have asked myself 'How do I perceive this election ? What is the most beneficial way for me ?

One of the themes that come up is that they are yet another distraction from the often painful process of self forgiveness.

Let me explain. I have been struggling for many years to accept my own hypocricy. At this time, the struggle is as acute as ever. Part of me thinks I should leave london , leave my house, go to a commune of some sort, live in a mud house, get off the grid, grow as much of my own food as possible, take my kids out of school etc etc. But here I am ,not having done that.

And when I see the politicians, my ego sees a perfect opportunity to project that guilt outwards onto these people who are in a sense the personification of hypocricy. They are doing the exact things that I hate within myself.

So I can shout and scream about them and strengthen the illusion that they make a difference to my life. That idea is such a load of nonsense because (a) my perspective is what creates my life - what and how I choose to focus on. (b) because my current thoughts inform me that the system was deliberately set up so that the type of people who crave power are the easiest to manipulate. This means that its not them that have caused society to be like it is. Its all the inluences upon them - which are almost entirely hidden. (So when the CONservatives put out an advert that 'Gordon Brown doubled the National debt' they are very cleverly tricking people into believing that he was responsible for it and that Cameron can do anything different)

Or I can choose the far more difficult and painful path of USING them as a trigger. Every time I think about David Cameron, for example, and all the judgements come up (and they can be very viscious in my mind) I stop and ask myself - what am I hating within myself. And I can meditate for a moment and forgive myself for my own hypocricy. Forgive myself for not caring enough about the less fortunate. Forgive myself for allowing myself to be manipulated by others. Forgive myself for putting on an act in public which is so different to how I act in private. So then I can thank David for this opportunity for me to heal myself.

I can say that for me, its a VERY challenging choice and my habit is to blame him and the system and do everything BUT look inside. And of course even that needs to be forgiven.

Happy self forgiving !

Great stuff as always Danny. Have you read about Dr Hew Len and the healing method of Ho’oponopono? (Not trying to sell you anything, but I came across this site a while ago and felt it connects very strongly to what you've said above.)

Mirrors many of my thoughts in the past specially the stig of the dump idea.

The political stuff I don't really have a clue what is going and like you said "my perspective is what creates my life - what and how I choose to focus on" and I think the same so I turn the bollocks off if I happen to see it on TV.

Self forgiving is some thing I looked into and then from outside sources was told there was no self and so I got confused which Eckart would probably say is a passing emotional state and the more i looked into things my brain hurt, was a scientist on TV saying we are all matter and some thing about 99.9% of the known universe is accounted for by empty space and the matter of the universe could fit into a sugar cube or some thing which reminded me of scott killobys vid on non duality and the question is there anything out here that is independent from thought? if the word atom was not thought of would it exist? and so when I tried to forget it all my Christian friend came over and told me its all from the creator. If matter needs to be perceived for it to pop into existence then who is the perceiver and the creator of the atom?

Anyways.. with all that rubbish swimming in my head and no possible way of proof I decided to just chill out and realised that it is true that I dont know what the hell is going on and try to laugh about it and so booked a holiday for a rest.

Danny if I had to vote for anything I say go for the mud brick house, off-the-grid scenario. It will ground you for a starters and the effect on your family life will be beyond what you can imagine.

Speaking of grounding (recommendation for all readers), try going barefoot at least 10 minutes a day, preferably in morning or late afternoon sun. You will find it really helps your perspective on things as you are receiving chi from both sun and earth at the same time.

Dear Danny, the politicians and political system is us, you - we have together created this system and together we can change it - as Bill Hicks said we are all one being experiencing itself subjectively. As you rightly alude time and time again the change has to start from within. There is absolutely no point in attacking something or someone outside of yourself, as you are only attacking that which you know is part of you. Namaste

Danny your words reflect the feelings of many in these times of great change and uncertainty....

"Part of me thinks I should leave london , leave my house, go to a commune of some sort, live in a mud house, get off the grid, grow as much of my own food as possible, take my kids out of school etc etc. But here I am ,not having done that." -

If this was the right thing to do you would be blogging from your mud hut now. Change will be effected not from isolation and solitude but by our state of being living amongst our other selves/humanity serving as an inspiration to others your purpose to shine light and information to those who are ready to see. Our task to guide others towards the awakening of their divinity.

I quote
"There is no need to go to India or anywhere else to find peace. You will find that deep place of silence right in your room, your garden or even your bathtub. "

In 1987 the Conservatives changed the way mortgages where obtained as well as the banking system as a whole. Generally you could borrow more and include two wage earners. Thus beginning of the end, the very simple control on pretend money and boom and bust was removed, house prices rose people borrowed against their houses the rest is history.
