delightful police officer

I just met a delightful police officer (happened to be of Asian descent although clearly born here) . He recognised me and said he really liked the videos. He said he saw himself as a public servant and recognises that some of his colleagues had forgotten that, but that there are also many police officers like himself. I could tell he really 'got' what the films were saying. He asked to be kept up to date on any new films. I think its important to put out these experiences - even more important than the films which alert us to some of those not so enlightened yet !

    Of course there are good intended police persons, of that there is no doubt. Reading comments from a policman's blogg I get the idea that they all think they are doing what is right but doesn't the nature of the job not allow this good intention to take over but to uphold the status quo. All of us are human which means we are not all good and bad (apologies for the use of these terms but it sums up what I mean and most will understand, I think) . It is not the people in the uniform that is the problem but the uniform and what is required of it.

    Danny, check this out (I got that phraseology from popular culture) - having largely given up connecting with the pious I have reverted to gutter mockery, probably the most healthy of the contempts (ok, I am making this shit up now) anyhow, take a look.

    Hope you are well.

  7. Dear Danny,

    This is my own Verdict;

    It's the very vagueness and prejudicial manner of the way the police handle these calls (made by corporate thugs who have not the slightest respect nor appreciation for freedom of expression) that infuriates me the most! There is not the slightest concern for the FACT that the UK is, nevertheless, a part of the EU, however marginally so, and has signed on to The Human Rights Act 1998, and thus has obligations to respect the specific Human Rights of both UK nationals and other EU nationals, as well as Legal Guests (registered tourists and foreign laborers from outside the EU). Among those Human Rights there can be none more fundamental and important than the right to Exercise One's Right to Freely Express themselves in public.

    Justice Holland in the High Court in 2007 stated that: "Protest is lawful; the use of a megaphone as an adjunct of lawful protest is itself lawful. The starting point is unfettered freedom to engage in so much amplified protest as is neither intimidating or harassing." HLS Group Plc v SHAC 2007 WL 919475 [2007] EWHC 522 (QB) QBD.
    However, if you were to shout insulting and abusive comments through a megaphone or point it deliberately in someone's face, this would amount to an offence.

    Clearly it would seem to be that real Freedom of Expression is not properly protected under existing UK laws, especially since UK Law is rather Subjective and subject to Precedence! This needs to change IF UK citizens (Subjects of Her Majesty) are to ever gain true protection of their actual Human Rights!

    Common Law, also known as Case Law, is law developed by judges through decisions of courts and similar tribunals rather than through legislative statutes or executive branch action. A "common law system" is a legal system that gives great precedential weight to common law, on the principle that it is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions. The body of precedent is called "common law" and it binds future decisions.

    In the case of Danny Shine’s activities and ‘non-protests’ there is too much vagueness concerning when/if his specific statements, broadcast in public via the device of a megaphone, are insulting and/or abusive. Clearly the proper purpose of Law Enforcement as concerns Shine’s specific activities should be to err on the side of his Rights and not to tend to favor the so-called rights of anonymous ‘members of the public’ which appear too often to be hirelings of corporatist interests!
