This is a blog designed to share the madness of our society which we call normal. It contains tales of exploration of my relationship with authority as I move towards self authority.

A New Revolution - L.I.A.R. - Loving Intelligent Acts of Rebellion

Some of you may have read about or watched reports of some of my shenanigans. These 'projects' have often been purposely unplanned.

They have lead me to thinking about creating a hub to encourage others who feel called to similar experiences so that we can share ideas, successes and learning experiences (aka failures)

There now follows some of the thinking behind what I am doing. Please get involved with questions and suggestions.

The old way rarely seems to work. Let me explain

Many spiritual commentators speak about a ‘universal law’ – ‘What you resist, persists.’ My understanding of this is that if you resist something you simply give it energy which ends up strengthening it. Tai Chi uses this principle – if an opponent comes at you, you do not resist him/her but instead you allow then to follow through and in fact use the energy to help you with your next move.

This principle applies to everything including protesting against the status quo. The establishment needs your protest as it simply puts more energy into what they are doing and keeps peoples focus upon it. This is why I have often felt repelled from protest marches, because it seemed that they were counter productive. I do realise that there have been some protests which seem to have got somewhere, however for now , I will stick with this line of reasoning.

What I am enjoying at the moment is a very different way. But it is very challenging (which also makes it exciting)

The challenge is this. On the one hand, to do nothing is to acquiesce. For me , to acquiesce with the status quo means saying nothing about 36,000 children dying of starvation every day when we throw away enough food to feed them. It means being silent about slave labour in China and India in order to provide me with a shirt for £1.99. It means remaining silent about Fascist like laws that will enable the police and government to lock you or me up for 42 days just because they want to (and they can claim its under terrorism suspicion) It means carrying on as normal when 2 billion of the worlds people live on less than 2 dollars a day. It means shutting up about the destruction of some of the earths most beautiful natural places in order to cut down trees on which to print scare mongering, corporate controlled so called news. It means ignoring the advertising companies deep manipulation of our minds which sow discontent and misery in order to sell their products.

On the other hand, to complain about it is simply giving it more energy and also in the process it is projecting the negative energy that has found its way into my system, onto those outside of me. It is using the very same energy which is supporting the current consumerist system – the energy of fear, when only Love can heal.

There may be however , ways to do this which sits somehow, paradoxically in the middle. There are already methods such as using art, literature and films. Not everyone has what it takes to use those avenues. And of course there is no avenue which is suitable for everyone including the one I am travelling.

However, it could be that there are thousands out there for whom this path might be very exciting and challenging.

There is a famous Ghandi declaration ‘Be the Change you wish to see in the world’ L.I.A.R. is about personal transformation in relation to the above issues. Is it possible to lovingly challenge the status quo ? I have found that it is as long as I remain focused that its really all about me and how I am being that is important. I hav tremendous fun with it and if you are a young person reading this – I often think about what fun I could hav had , had I have known what I know now when I was in my teens and early twenties and had lots of time on my hands.

This path is about acts of loving and intelligent rebellion. There are many ways of doing this and I am always interested in discovering more and more of them. Random acts of Kindness is on of them (http://www.actsofkindness.org) I would like to develop acts of loving rebellion. I have already mentioned a few on the blog and have other plans too. Many of them use signs, standing with them in different strategic places. For example, imagine if 1000 people synchronised a visit to their local school at going home time and stood on a box with a big sign ‘Isn’t it about time teachers stopped shouting at young people ?’

Or one Sunday, 1000 people go to churches around the country holding a large banner saying ‘God told me that She loves Atheists’ and perhaps the other side would say ‘What would Jesus do in this situation ?’

The tricky thing about this is that it needs to be done with the energy of love. It will always provoke some people into anger and fear and that is when the shit hits the fan. Your challenge would be to attempt to remain loving in the presence of anger and fear.

To be continued….
